Melissa Joan Rivers, born on 20 January 1968 in Manhattan, is a daughter of Joan Rivers, a well known comedian. Melissa herself is currently a TV host and producer. Melissa’s birth name was actually Melissa Warburg Rosenberg, but in 1990 she took her mom’s stage surname. After being an intern in CBS News as a fresh graduate, Melissa took a job as a reporter for “CBS This Morning” and a contributor for “Hangin’ with MTV”. She also had some minor roles in “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Silk Stalkings”, and “The Comeback”. She also hosted many events on TV. After marrying John Endicott in December 1998, they divorced in 2003.
Currently, the mom-daughter star in the reality show titled “Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?”, premieres last January.
On Plastic Surgery
Melissa Rivers confirming that her mom’s plastic surgeries are a source of conflict. Joan Rivers, now 77 years old, admitted that she had more than ten cosmetic surgeries in a book “Men Are Stupid... And They Like Big Boobs: A Woman’s Guide to Beauty Through Plastic Surgery” which she wrote two years ago. “Stop it, it bothers me,” said Melissa to her mom at a news conference for her reality series “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best” for WE Network.
This is practically a joke, but Joan declined that it’s just the part of this showbiz and addressed that nothing that is really too much. Seems like it’s none of her concerns.
How about Melissa? Did she undergo some plastic surgeries, like her mom.
The answer is yes. Like mom, like daughter. Previously, Melissa also admitted that she had plastic surgeries, including breast enlargement and nose job, when she was a teenager. She also admitted that she had Botox injection. She even confirming that she had Botox once or twice a year, and never being too regretful for it. “I’d be more upset if they were saying I was fat,” said her to People magazine, for which she discussed about the Botox use she had. Botox is indeed working for making a smoother appearance on one’s skin by paralyzing the muscles temporarily.
Some before and after plastic surgery pictures of Melissa showed off some differences on her breast size and skin, indicationg that she had breast implants and Botox injection. Some also noticed differences on her nose, cheek, and brows, saying that perhaps Melissa also had some nose, cheek, and browlifts. The most popular before and after plastic surgery picturs of Melissa is the ones of her in 1993 and 2008. You can browse on Google to see the pictures.
Seems like this beauty issue has taken seriously by the mom-daughter, because both said that they dealt with low self-esteem terribly, especially about their bodies. Both stated that it was painful to have people called them “ugly”, “horseface”, and other boos, making them be in a necessity of fixing their appearances. While some celebrities were either clearly against plastic surgeries or silent answering if she or he had any surgeries before, Melissa and Joan seems enjoying the topic. They even made fun of it. When Claudia Jordan, Melissa’s teammate on “Celebrity Apprentice”, states that Melissa’s forehead does not move because of the Botox she had (for which Claudia can’t tell if Melissa is happy or sad), Melissa laughed at it. Wendy William from “The Wendy Williams Show” even asked Melissa to show anyone from the “Celebrity Apprentice” that has not seen the better end of the Botox needle.
Melissa is truly a comedian.
On Her Mom’s Plastic Surgery
But, when it comes to her mom’s plastic surgery, things go differently. Melissa—I can’t tell if it is a joke or a serious thing—discussed openly that she did not like her mom’s obsession to plastic surgery. For the record, Joan Rivers had some plastic surgery procedures, including facelifts, browlifts, cheeklifts, Botox, breast implantation, and so on. This, for Melissa, is categorized as an obsession, and Melissa didn’t like it her mom did. She even waved flags for her mom to stop.
But, Melissa is truly a comedian and so is her mom. Joan laughed to her daughter’s attention, saying there is no thing addressed as “too much plastic surgery”.
So, like mother, like daughter. Melissa Rivers and Joan Rivers is not the only mom-daughter who admitted openly about their plastic surgeries. Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner is another famous mom-daughter plastic surgeries duet.
